Christopher Whitehead, PA
Psychiatric Physicians Assistant
“I am a Psychiatric Physician Assistant with prescriptive privileges and two years of experience in outpatient psychiatry. I have treated a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, OCD, substance abuse, schizophrenia, and personality disorders. I am a West Point graduate and former army captain. Upon my discharge from the army in 2010, I obtained my Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Rutgers-Newark, graduating in 2012. I chose the PA (physician assistant) profession because I had great respect for the PAs who treated me when I was in the army. I chose psychiatry when it dawned on me that I was more interested in the mind than in the cervical spine or anterior cruciate ligament, and I’m very happy with how things have worked out! I truly enjoy listening to my patients. My philosophy is not to judge and to use my medical knowledge to the very best of my ability to help my patients as if I was helping a family member.”
Christopher accepts BCBS, Cigna, United Health Care, Aetna, and Medicare health care plans.
Patricia Comerford, PMHNP
Board Certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
“As an NP, I see patients independently combining both medical and nursing perspectives. I have experience in both inpatient and outpatient/private practice settings, including emergency settings.
I believe that a caring relationship is the core of treatment. My goal is to provide high quality mental health services that offer personalized care for patients. I treats my patients in a holistic manner, not just through the lens of symptoms and disorders. In practice, I aim for prescribing the least amount of medications and believe that medications can assist as the catalyst for the work that is done in therapy, in addition to improving other aspects of self-care/healing.
My style is one of collaboration with patients, as I focus on teaching, health promotion, and integrative care. I incorporate brief therapy into my work with clients and utilize several different therapeutic styles including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused, and mindfulness to provide individualized treatment. I believe strongly in empowering my clients to take an active role in their physical and mental health, with a focus on a client’s strengths and innate capacity to heal. For clients that are already connected with a therapist and are in need of a clinician for medications, I will work in collaboration with the therapist for the best solution-focused care of the client.”

TMS and neuromodulation techniques are my primary focus of research, as I have seen this treatment work for so many patients it has motivated me to truly become passionate about it!
